Today’s favorite photos highlight different perspectives. I’ve found that a normal (boring) straight on shot can be made incredibly interesting just by taking it from an interesting angle.

There’s a couple of things I like about this picture of my dad. The upward angle of the shot gives him a larger than life look. I like the fact that he’s standing on a boulder, and there’s a harsh line dividing rock and sky. The brilliant blue sky in the background is awesome. I love it when I can take a good pic with the right lighting to get this color of sky. Unfortunately this pic doesn’t really have good lighting. My dad face is way too dark. If I were going to take this picture again, I might try adding an external flash off to the left to illuminate my dad’s face.

Picture 012

This picture of me I didn’t take myself; I believe Gina took this shot. I really like the composition of this picture. I feel like the angle of my arms, and the line the rock draws across the picture pulls the viewer’s attention to the center. I think it also helps that my body is hidden from view; there is less to distract the viewer. The lighting on this shot is quite good as well.
