Last weekend Gina and I went out to Young, AZ and spent some time working on some routes we’re putting up in a new area we call Kiyo Canyon. It’s a lovely canyon with 100-250 foot quartzite cliffs.

The rock is amazing. Good quality, and easy on the hands. I’m looking forward to setting up some nice routes so there’s a good place to climb when I visit my parents.

I’ve found developing new routes, bolting, trail building and everything that goes into creating a new climbing area to be A LOT of work. I have serious respect for people who have done it. Despite all the effort, the reward of being able to say you’ve created something that other climbers will enjoy in the future is worth all the work.
